DSTA took part in the Singapore Airshow 2026 from 3 to 8 February, engaging foreign government delegates and global industry partners across a week of conferences, discussions and industry exchanges.
Throughout the Airshow, conversations centred on emerging technologies, evolving operational needs and opportunities for collaboration in aviation, space and other next-bound domains.
One key milestone marked during the Airshow was the attainment of Singapore’s Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) automatic air-to-air refuelling full certification. With this achievement, the Republic of Singapore Air Force became the first air force to conduct automatic refuelling in both daytime and night conditions.

As part of efforts to strengthen partnerships in new technology areas, DSTA also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Digantara to collaborate on the development of tools for Space Situational Awareness, supporting Singapore’s national space efforts.

The DSTA Horizon Office and our procurement colleagues organised a networking session to share DSTA’s acquisition interests, procurement initiatives and emerging areas of focus, including artificial intelligence, robotics, counter-unmanned aircraft systems and space. The session facilitated exchanges with companies from Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom and other countries.

This edition of the Airshow also saw the participation of newer innovative defence companies such as Shield AI and Helsing, alongside established players. DSTA hosted a roundtable discussion with Anduril Founder Mr Palmer Luckey, MINDEF/SAF principals, DSTA Management Committee members and Whole-of-Government representatives. The session, titled “Deterrence through Innovation – Technology and Concepts for Future Warfare”, explored how technology and new operating concepts are shaping future deterrence.

Held in conjunction with the airshow, Deputy Chief Executive (Information) Gayle Chan moderated the panel “From Flight to Fight: Is Military Aviation Keeping Pace with AI?” at the Singapore Aerospace Technology & Engineering Conference that took place on 4 February, contributing to discussions on artificial intelligence in military aviation.

Beyond industry engagements, curated visits were organised for new staff, students and education partners. These learning journeys provided participants with closer insights into aerospace and defence developments, and how DSTA translates technology into capabilities for the SAF.
