Gifting Joy

21 Dec 2020

For many, the festive season is a special time of joy. This year, DSTA staff found joy in the act of giving by participating in the Boys’ Brigade Share-a-Gift programme.

For the eleventh consecutive year, DSTA has been part of the annual programme that shares the spirit of caring and sharing through fulfilling wishes of beneficiaries from various voluntary welfare organisations. This year, DSTA staff fulfilled over 250 wishes, and contributed gifts including clothes, fitness trackers, kitchen appliances, as well as necessities.

For Deputy Head (Cyber Infra-IT Systems) Prakash S/O Yanaprakasam, participating in the programme was a family activity as his wife and children pitched in to select the gifts. In particular, he sought his children’s opinion on the design of a watch to ensure it would be something the recipient – a child about his children’s age – would like. Beyond just putting a smile on the recipients’ faces, the programme was also a valuable chance for his children to learn the joy of sharing. He explained: “It helps them to understand the importance of giving back to the society.”

A frequent participant of the programme, Director (Technology Development) Reman Chim from C3 Development Programme Centre adopted more wishes this year to “bring smiles to others”. He said: “We can help make this festive season a special one for people in need with just a small token!”
