AI took centre stage at DSTA’s AI Showcase on 7 April, where staff experimented with a slew of new tools designed to help them work smarter and faster.
The event featured a variety of curated tools that ranged from specialised chatbots, personal email drafting assistants, to voice-to-text generators, and provided opportunities for staff to interact with the development teams to learn how best they could apply it to their work.
In addition to enterprise tools, the showcase featured a series of AI minimum viable products developed by teams keen to explore how AI could be applied within specialised domains. These ground-up developments – collaborative efforts between individual staff with in-house AI developers – are evident of staff’s fervour in harnessing the potential of AI to better innovate their work, and showed how small and targeted use cases can also translate into meaningful improvements.

Staff enjoyed direct conversations with the teams behind the various AI tools, and learnt first-hand how they could elevate their work with the tools.
Beyond the displays, staff were also able to pick up practical tips on how to get started through a series of hands-on workshops, bridging the gap between awareness and adoption to help them better see how to fit these new capabilities into their workflows.

The hands-on sessions offered a deeper glimpse into the AI tools and their potential uses.
As DSTA’s first-ever AI Showcase, the event highlighted our ongoing effort to build, test and refine AI capabilities, and inspired staff to help shape how this new and ever-evolving technology can be applied across the organisation.
