After spending 10 years away, the National Day Parade (NDP) returned to the National Stadium to commemorate Singapore’s 51st birthday. 

To create the parade’s watercooler moments, the Procurement team carefully acquired the fireworks and lighting systems as well as diligently managed the rental of stage props and costumes. It also procured the key personnel such as the creative director and music director to helm the show.  

Apart from the precision drills, fireworks and spellbinding performances, one staple that participants look forward to every year is the funpack. In 2016, a total of 300,000 NDP funpacks were distributed. The DSTA Procurement team was tasked with contracting for the funpacks, and making sure audiences had a meaningful souvenir to bring home. 

Each funpack came with the essential items, as well as a LED wristband that was wirelessly synchronised to the lighting and sound systems. Participants became performers, as they waved their hands in unison to the rhythm of the music. In those moments, Singaporeans united as one to light up the stadium.
