DSTA has delivered the first iteration of a new generation command and control (C2) system to the RSAF. It is a large-scale system that is integrated with an extensive network of sensors and C2 systems.
DSTA developed the C2 system and incorporated new decision support engines that provide recommendations on course of action to deal with different threats, sensors’ coverage and configurations. The system is also able to dynamically detect airspace conflicts, and touch-screen and 3D visualisation were incorporated to enrich user experience. These new capabilities have improved operators’ situational awareness and eased their cognitive workload.
A modular architecture was adopted to address evolving operational needs as well as the complexities of System-of-Systems testing. It makes continuous delivery possible as new capabilities can be inserted by incorporating new or updated modules with each new system build.
This new C2 system has equipped the RSAF with enhanced sense-making capabilities, enabling operators to make smarter and faster decisions for improved tactical in-flight control. It also integrates with more C2 systems for greater situational awareness.
