DSTA oversaw the construction of the critical building infrastructure to support capability delivery of the RSAF’s new air defence systems. Despite having limited information based on the initial buy of the new weapon systems and a challenging timeline, the team formulated the infrastructure requirements from scratch.

Upon the approval of requirements, the team planned and designed the infrastructure while the system configurations were being fine-tuned and customised based on the RSAF’s needs. Various multidisciplinary sub-teams were formed to formulate the requirements which included accommodation, workshops, storage buildings, communications infrastructure, deployment sites and munition support facilities.

A multi-pronged approach was then adopted to establish the requirements most suited to achieve the operational capability of the new weapon systems. For example, land take and explosive safety issues for the various deployment sites were tackled concurrently by sub-teams to ensure a timely and successful delivery.
