More than 100 industry representatives from all over the world took part in the DSTA Networking Session on 15 February 2016. Held in conjunction with the Singapore Airshow 2016, the event served as a platform for suppliers to gain a better understanding of DSTA’s procurement approach and technological areas of interest. Participants took the opportunity to exchange ideas and explore potential collaborations.
In his presentation, DSTA’s Director (Procurement) Joseph Quek cited how the Next Generation GeBIZ rolled out in January 2016 has enhanced the user experience for suppliers. DSTA had revamped the GeBIZ portal with a host of capabilities for suppliers to manage transactions and source business opportunities with the Singapore Government more easily. This is accomplished through a new dashboard for suppliers to manage submissions and invoices, advanced search and notification features, and improved navigation for bid submissions.
“This would give DSTA a wider reach to sources of supply and likewise for more suppliers to reach us,” he shared.
The session also saw participants taking active part in a Q&A session hosted by Joseph and DSTA’s Director (Networked Systems) Tan Chee Ping.
During the second half of the networking session, participants split into focus groups for themed discussions, which spanned diverse domains which included military communications, unmanned technologies, and simulation and security systems. The discussions allowed for in-depth exchanges of knowledge and technological developments between DSTA and suppliers.
