The Young Defence Scientists Programme (YDSP) offers participants a wealth of activities and programmes to challenge our budding research scientists. Click on the following links to find out more:

Research@YDSP
Research@YDSP is a three-month attachment programme which offers students the opportunity to gain research experience in a real laboratory environment. Participants will be working in laboratories under the mentorship of research staff and practising professionals. The students will be engaged in projects which have been specially designed to spur and further their interest in science and technology.

YDSP Science & Technology Camp
The YDSP Science & Technology Camp is a theme-based holiday treat which offers a fun and educational experience for students. Through a series of activities such as workshops, excursions and even a mini-competition, students can look forward to gaining more knowledge on science and technology while having fun at the same time.

The YDSP Academic Awards recognise students with outstanding academic achievements in Physics and Mathematics.

YDSP World of Science
The YDSP World of Science introduces advanced topics in physical science and infocomms technology which is important and relevant to defence. Students can expect a series of lectures and laboratory sessions covering fundamental concepts and advanced topics.

YDSP Lecture Series
YDSP Lecture Series is an initiative involving a series of fascinating lectures on various topics in the areas of science and technology. Experts from the Defence Technology Community will share their knowledge in specific topics, as well as their experiences and challenges in playing a vital role in the defence and security of our nation. The lecture series is open to all students.

YDSP Congress
YDSP Congress marks the the culmination of YDSP activities for an entire year. It provides an opportunity for YDSP participants to present their Research@YDSP projects and share their experiences from YDSP Science & Technology Camp and YDSP World of Science. YDSP Scholarship awards and YDSP Academic Awards are also given to students with excellent academic achievements at the event.

Partner Programmes
YDSP also partners with the Tan Kah Kee Foundation and Ministry of Education's Gifted Education Branch to offer prestigious national level activities and awards to spur bright young talent to further levels of achievement, in particular to defence science and technology.
Tan Kah Kee Young Inventors' Award -
Defence Science Award
The Tan Kah Kee Young Inventors' Award (TKKYIA) is a national competition with the objective of promoting innovative thinking and problem solving among the young .. The Defence Science Award under the TKKYIA umbrella aims to promote greater interest in defence science and technology as well as its relevance in the enhancement of our nation's security in the world today.
Open to all students from kindergarten up to tertiary levels, the Defence Science Award comes with attractive prizes. Winners of the respective categories can expect:
- Gold Award: Gold Medal, Certificate and S$10,000
- Silver Award: Silver Medal, Certificate and S$5,000
- Bronze Award: S$3,000
- Commendation Award: S$1,000
- Encouragement Award: Certificate

Defence Science Programme
The Defence Science Programme (DSP) is a science mentorship programme jointly organised by DSTA with the Ministry of Education's (MOE) Gifted Education Branch (GEB). The programme aims to stimulate, develop and deepen students' interest in science and research from young through attachments to the Defence Technology Community.
Science Research Programme
The Science Research Programme (SRP) is a science mentorship programme jointly organised by the NUS Faculty of Science and the MOE's GEB. The programme provides the opportunity for students to gain real-time research experience in established laboratories within NUS and leading science and research agencies.
SRP is open to selected first-year Junior College science students. DSTA supports the SRP with projects for student attachments.
