Frequently Asked Questions |
Eligibility
- Who are eligible to participate in the TechX Challenge?
DSTA welcomes all scientists, engineers and interested parties with relevant technical expertise in Singapore as well as from around the world to form teams to take part in the competition. For foreign applicants, they are required to collaborate with their Singapore counterparts to take part in the Challenge. However, staff and adjunct members of MINDEF, DSTA, DSO National Laboratories, Temasek Laboratories@NUS, Temasek Laboratories@NTU as well as Singapore Technologies Engineering and its subsidiaries are prohibited from taking part in the TechX Challenge.
- Can we make any changes to the composition of the team after registration?
Yes. Team members can be added or removed from the team even after registration so long as the team manager provides DSTA with an updated Team Description Form.
- What about the team manager? Can he be changed too?
Yes. However, it is important to note that the new team manager has to be a Singapore Citizen and resident as well. The new team manager needs to contribute technically to the design and development of the robot, and be present at the qualifying round as well as the final competition. For more information on the eligibility of participants, kindly refer to the Criteria section on the website of the Challenge.
- Can the ex-staff of MINDEF, DSTA, DSO, ST Engineering and Temasek Laboratories at the two universities participate in the TechX Challenge?
There is no restriction on participation by ex-staff from these organisations.
- Can I participate in the TechX Challenge if I act as a consultant or sub-contractor for MINDEF, DSTA, DSO National Laboratories, Singapore Technologies Engineering and Temasek Laboratories at either of the two local universities?
Consultants and sub-contractors for these organisations are allowed to participate so long they are not the employees of these organisations.
- Can DSTA scholars participate in the TechX Challenge?
Current DSTA scholars are not allowed to participate.
- Are there any fees associated with participating in the TechX Challenge?
There is no fee for the participation. However, all costs, including the design and development of the Challenge Robot, will be borne by the teams themselves or their sponsors.
