11 Nov 2004 Singapore's Thermal Scanners team receives US Tech Museum Awards

The Infrared Fever Screening System team led by DSTA received the US Tech Museum Award at a black tie gala dinner attended by leaders from the Silicon Valley and delegates from the United Nations (UN). The team was recognised for adapting military technology in a creative way in developing the system which was used worldwide as the frontline defence against SARS during the outbreak last year.

A total of 550 students took part in the 2004 RJC-DSTA Building Competition. These first-year Physics students were tasked to build a vessel, capable of keeping afloat when loaded with the most number of marbles, using simple materials.
